Towards the Euro-Mediterranean Innovation Space - EMIS

by P01-CSIC-Jordi Martínez last modified 2012-02-03 11:53

The MIRA project is aimed to promoting scientific cooperation between the Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC) and to support the economic and technological development of its members by the use of the scientific knowledge, by exploring the capacity and collaborative efforts of Euro-Mediterranean innovation  stakeholders and by other activities supporting the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Innovation Space (EMIS).

MIRA provides a platform for dialogue oriented to identify, mobilize and engage those stakeholders to contribute to the creation of the EMIS. This platform will contribute to the collaboration with existing Programmes on Innovation in the Mediterranean Area, notably the Euro-Mediterranean Industrial Cooperation 2011-2012 Programme led by DG Enterprise (European Commission).  The creation of EMIS also means to build on the results of previous projects in the region such as the MEDIBTIKAR project, financed by the MEDA Programme, as well as a close collaboration with networks and initiatives such as Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) or Invest-in-Med / ANIMA Network.

The frame for the action of EMIS is provided by the results and approaches already developed under the MIRA project, such as identification of common scientific priorities, capacity building or the analysis of scientific strengths in the Mediterranean region. The main reference for networking and other activities to be performed under EMIS will be obtained out of the identification of MPC stakeholders, the objectives and results of research and innovation projects and the search of synergies with regional innovation programs.
