EFIMED - European Forest Institute Mediterranean Regional Office
EFI Mediterranean Regional Office – EFIMED – is the first EFI Regional Office and will be leading the way for other potential Regional Offices across Europe in the coming years. The creation of EFIMED has been a natural evolution thanks to the active network of EFI Project Centre MEDFOREX. Spain, being one of the ratifying countries, has shown its interest to support international forest research and networking by initially providing funding to EFIMED for the next five years. The high level of motivation within the network and the solid core funding provide EFIMED with a viable start. The aim of EFIMED is to coordinate and promote research and networking on Mediterranean forests, forestry and forest products. EFIMED will increase potential for funding forest research in the Mediterranean area. It will also improve the ability to respond efficiently to research needs and challenges related to the conservation and management of Mediterranean forests.
